Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、「近年、日英間の安全保障・経済パートナーシップが急速に緊密化しているのはなぜか」を主要な問いとして、それを説明する要因を明らかにする。そうした要因としては、価値観・信頼・世界観といった観念的要因を中心としつつ、それらと物質的要因（パワー、利益）との相互作用に着目する。実証の手法としては、各争点についての事例研究（過程追跡）と計量テキスト分析に主に依拠する。また、本研究はパートナーシップ概念の明確化と同概念の理論的分類を行い、日英パートナーシップをそこに位置づけることを通じて、パートナーシップ概念の一般的な理解に貢献する。
