特許は開発者の権益を保護する一方、生産者に対しては製品製造のために膨大な特許ライセンスを取得して回るというコストを課す。これが参入障壁となり市場の効率性を損ねる。この開発者の権益保護と市場の効率性のジレンマを解消する方策の一つが、ライセンスの一括取得を可能にする特許プール（パテントプール）である。
本研究では、パテントプール形成に影響する要因を理論と実験の両面から分析することで、パテントプールの形成と市場の効率化に貢献したい。特に、パテントプール形成の要因として、ロイヤルティの分配方法および規格間の競争に注目し、ゲーム理論の枠組みで分析する。さらに、実験によって理論予測の妥当性を検証する。
