Outline of Research at the Start

20世紀初頭、リバプールの港湾労働者世帯や救貧法下にある寡婦世帯の貧困調査をおこなったエレノア・ラスボーンは、家族手当は家庭における女性の無償労働と子どもに対する手当であり、国家の責任のもとで支給すべきであるとした。
こうしてラスボーンによってはじめて明確に、ジェンダー平等と家庭における無償労働であるケア（育児）が結び付けられた。本研究の課題は、20世紀初頭のイギリスにおけるジェンダー平等をめぐるフェミニスト運動の思想を整理・検討して、二つのジェンダー平等を統一する道筋を探るとともに、現代におけるジェンダー平等とケアの関係についての示唆を導き出すことである。
