Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、1820年代から1870年にかけてのインド洋・太平洋経済圏における国際通貨システムの発展を、一次資料・統計データを用いた実証分析により解明する。具体的には、アジア域内、またはアジア諸地域と米国及び豪州の間の、ブリオン貿易や為替手形の流通規模の数量的把握、そしてその市場メカニズムの分析により、国際金本位制の台頭以前のグローバル通貨システムの包括的理解と歴史的意義に迫ることを目指す。
