Outline of Research at the Start	英領期マラヤの数量経済史研究は、GDP等のフロー指標に関する長期経済統計推計の整備によって経済成長の趨勢、景気変動、生活水準等の実証分析が進展した。その一方で英領期の経済アクターが形成・蓄積した資産や負債のストック指標を推計・分析した研究例は見当たらない。本研究の目的はマレーシア国立公文書館が所蔵する１万余のEstate Duty（相続税）の資産・負債調査認定書から、英領期に金融貸付を通じて主要な経済アクターとなった南インドからのタミル系移民の商人集団チェッティアに焦点をあて、各種資産・負債の評価額と記述資料を活用して「富の形成と蓄積」を把握・分析することにある。
