Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、近代日本における自己形成の中心的な概念の一つであった「修養」の思想と実践が、1920年代から1940年代前半の学校教育において「錬成」へ変容する過程を、歴史的に解明することである。
具体的には、蘆田惠之助における「修養」から「修行」への変化、奈良女子高等師範学校附属小学校の木下竹次による「肚腰錬成」論と「行に依る教育」などを中心に検討し、禅思想や浄土真宗の思想、京都学派の教育思想等を補助線として、歴史的・文化的・社会的文脈から総合的に研究する。また、本研究の前提となる「修養」概念の再検討も継続的に行うことにする。
