Outline of Research at the Start

戦前の女子中等教育機関である実科高等女学校は、小学校への付設など簡易な設置が可能だったことに加え、地域における教育要求の高まりから数多く設置され、女子中等教育の普及拡大に大きな役割を果たした。
本研究は、近代日本における女子中等教育の普及拡大に大きな役割を果たした地域の教育要求と実科高等女学校について、設置経緯や高等女学校への組織変更、府県立への移管に関する全国的調査をおこない、発掘した一次史料を比較・分析する。その結果、地域における教育要求の高まりとその影響を戦後も含めて明らかにし、戦前・戦後の中等教育史の捉え直しをおこなうとともに、戦前から戦後への中等教育の連続性を描出する。
