Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、国民の育成へ貢献しうる歴史教育のあり方について、外国史と自国史の一体的な把握を実現する学習内容の構成及び実践方法の有効性や課題を明らかにするものである。ドイツ及びポーランドの歴史教科書や教材に見出される対外認識と自国認識のあらわれを事例に、両国の「公共空間」に刻まれた近現代の国家形成に関わる歴史事象とその表象物を手がかりとして分析、考察を行う。日本への示唆は、「歴史総合」と「世界史探究」の接続など、外国史と自国史の一体的な把握を可能にする歴史授業の内容構成と方法をめぐり、各学校段階で獲得が期待される歴史認識の蓄積に根ざした探究的な歴史学習活動の必要性と実現方策を提起する点にある。
