Outline of Research at the Start	明治から大正時代の前半に『動物学雑誌』を編集した永澤六郎は，同誌に331件の多様な分類群における多彩な話題の著作がある碩学．しかし彼について知られるところはわずかで，宮城県出身で1907年に東京大学に入学した動物学徒で，1911年から1917年にかけて『動物学雑誌』の編集にあたり，その後忽然と姿を消したこと，1920年代からカナダのバンクーバーにて同地在住の日本人コミュニティにおけるジャーナリズムに身を投じた等，破天荒な人生がうかがえる．どのようにして多彩な知識を身に着け，一体何を求めて動物学徒となり，後にジャーナリストへと転身したのか．本研究では文献資料等から，彼の生涯を探る．
