Outline of Research at the Start

客観的には生命がないにもにもかかわらず，大切な人の遺体はなぜ大切なのだろう。本研究は「魂」をめぐる人びとの心象（「霊魂観念」）を適用することでこの問いにアプローチする。具体的には（1）人びとが大切な人の遺体を愛惜し傷つけられることを厭うのは，そこに「魂」を見出すからである，（2）魂は遺体のみならず，遺骨や遺品などにも宿る，（3）遺体・遺骨の収容と保全に対する熱意は日本人に顕著であるか，という仮説と問いを検討する。
