Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、覚醒乳児を対象にfMRIを用いて、運動視における周辺抑制メカニズムを、一次視覚野とMT野の活動から発達的に明らかにする。
計画は３つの段階からなる。第一段階は、MRIシミュレーション室における乳児の行動実験である。MRIのスキャナー内で乳児の安全・安心を確保しつつ、頭部を固定し視覚刺激を安定的に呈示する方法と装置の開発を行う。第二段階は乳児の一次視覚野とMT野を同定し、３か月以下の乳児における低次視覚野と高次視覚野の接続関係を検討する。第三段階では周辺抑制が発達する以前の３～５か月の乳児の脳の特性を、fMRIを用いて一次視覚野とMT野の活動から明らかにする。
