Outline of Research at the Start

球面上のデザインとは，球面上の有限部分集合で多項式に対する球面積分の値をその有限集合上の平均値として正確に与えるものであり代数的組合せ論において盛んに研究されている. 一方，円周や球面上の方向とみなされるデータを解析する理論体系である方向統計学との間には双方向的な研究は本研究代表者が知る限りほとんどされていない. そこで本研究においては両理論に共通するだろう球面上の調和解析，点配置に対するポテンシャル・エネルギーの理論などを通じ，球面上のデザイン理論と方向統計学の融合を試み，両理論の進展をはかる．
