Outline of Research at the Start

This research involves the detailed study of the Pleistocene record of reef growth and coral community changes in drill cores from Hawaii (IODP Expedition 389) and from the Ryukyu Islands. This unique set of boreholes will shed light on the response of coral reefs and reef organisms, particularly reef corals, to climate and sea-level change across multiple glacial-interglacial cycles near the limit of their current geographic distribution.
