Outline of Research at the Start	世界各地に点在する旧英国植民都市は計画時の人種・階層別の居住地の配置に大きな特徴があり、その痕跡は現在も多くの都市に残っている。その一つであるコルカタ（インド）の場合は人種や階層の混在地区が形成されたことが大きな特徴で、そこには独自の建築形態やその集合の状態が見られる。近年の高い開発圧によって中心市街地は徐々に更新されつつあるが、地区の独自性を明らかにし、その文化的価値を評価することは、今後の都市の姿を構想する上で重要と考えられる。本研究では都市・建築の現状を網羅的に記録し、これを基に地区の特性とその価値を示すことで、歴史的遺産の継承や持続的な発展のあり方を考察することを目的としている。
