Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、日本住宅における唐紙の用例の一端を明らかにしようとするものである。本研究で対象とする「唐紙」とは、紙に文様を多色刷りした内装材のことである。
まず、京唐紙の老舗「唐長」に伝わる『千田家文書』を読み解くことにより、江戸時代から大正時代にかけての「唐長」製の唐紙が流通した範囲を把握する。「唐長」は、日本で唯一、寛永年間から現代まで「家」と「家族」によって唐紙制作を継承してきている。
次に、「唐長」製の唐紙が流通した範囲にある歴史的建造物を調査し、唐紙の用例を明らかにし、日本建築・住宅における唐紙の用例についての指標を構築する。
