Outline of Research at the Start

This research project is aimed to explore new strategies, by either microstructural design or interstitial alloying, to develop novel metastable β titanium alloys that exhibit both ultra-high yield strength and large ductility at room temperature. Based on an in-depth multi-scale investigation of the deformation mechanisms combined with state-of-the-art theoretical simulations, we are aiming to establish a more comprehensive alloy design theory for metastable β titanium alloys that is capable of incorporating the influences of both substitutional and interstitial solutes.
