Outline of Research at the Start	従来の化粧品顔料に用いられるプラスチックビーズは、自然分解されず海洋汚染の要因とされているのに加え、酸化チタンは生体適合性が疑われている。本研究では、生体適合性に優れた自然由来の原料を用い、粒子表面で光を乱反射するような白色顔料粉体を設計する。これはシロコガネの鱗片のように粉体表面にサブマイクロメートル級の凹凸を配列する様態を模倣することであり、シリカなどの粉体粒子表面に薄いシート状の構造物を形成することで、凹凸を配列させる。この薄いシート状の構造物が、種々の色素や薬理成分等の担持が可能な機能性ナノシートであることを明らかにし高機能化を図り、プラスチックビーズ代替による環境負荷軽減に貢献する。
