Outline of Research at the Start

ニンニク（Allium sativum L.）は栄養繁殖植物のため交配による品種改良化ができず、そのため新品種創出が困難であることに加え農業形質に関する遺伝学的知見はほとんど得られていない。一方で、中央アジア由来のニンニク個体の一部は稔性を有しており、栽培種で失われた種子生産能を未だ保持していることから重要な育種素材とみなされているが、環境変化の影響を受けやすく種子結実性が不安定という問題がある。本研究では、稔性ニンニクの配偶子由来倍加半数体集団の作出を試み、遺伝解析集団とし、ニンニクの新規育素材獲得の可能性を検討するとともにニンニクのゲノム情報解読に向けた取り組みを実施する。
