Outline of Research at the Start

野生復帰とは、野外の母集団から個体を人為環境下に移し、飼育増殖を経て、かつての生息地に戻す保全手法である。しかしながら、母集団から得られる個体は大抵少ないため、グループ構成には偏りが生じ、加えて、飼育下では自然条件とは異なる選択がかかるため、野外環境に戻した個体がうまく順応するとは限らない。そこで本研究は、コウノトリの野生復帰を対象して、飼育履歴や遺伝的背景の異なる放鳥個体およびその子孫が持つ行動特性を明らかにし、野生復帰個体群の成長を阻む可能性のある要因を特定することで、取り組みの改善を目指すことを目的とする。
