Outline of Research at the Start

海洋深層水（DSW)の有用微生物に関する研究は端緒についたばかりである.DSWは表層海水に比べ，(1）無機栄養塩類が約10倍多い，(2）陸水や大気，化学物質や病原性微生物等による汚染が少ない，(3)高水圧・低水温，という特殊な環境下に加え，グラム陰性細菌が多いことがわかっている．本申請研究では,海域の異なる未探索の４施設のDSWを対象に,有用微生物と新規リード化合物を探索・単離することを目的とし,DSWの資源価値の向上を目指す.すなわち，本申請研究は，特殊環境下のDSWを新規化合物分離源という「資源」ととらえ,そこから分離した有用微生物の蓄積と新規リード化合物取得に挑む研究である.
