Outline of Research at the Start

ゲノム全体や染色体の倍加などの制約から、動物種間での異種交配は稀であると長らく考えられてきました。しかし、近年、野生動物における種間交配の報告が増加しています。申請者も、スカンジナビア半島やロシアの中・西部の哺乳動物を対象とした分子系統地理学的な研究を通じ、種間交雑を示唆するデータを複数得てきました。そこで本研究では、哺乳動物を中心に種間雑種の分布と純系個体群からの遺伝的多様性の変化に関する知識を深め、それらが環境への適応にどのように関与しているかを検討します。
