Outline of Research at the Start

節足動物媒介性ウイルス（アルボウイルス）は、節足動物が媒介者となって伝播するウイルスの総称で、主に蚊やヌカカ、マダニ等の吸血性節足動物による吸血により哺乳動物で伝播され、様々な感染症を引き起こす。牛を対象としたサーベイランスにより、多様なアルボウイルスが分離・同定されてきたが、その多くは媒介種が特定されていない。本研究では、チュウザンウイルス、ディアギュラウイルス、Yunnan orbivirus、Guangxi orbivirusおよびYonaguni orbivirusの5種のオルビウイルスについて、国内に生息する蚊およびヌカカへの感染実験により、媒介可能な種とその媒介能を明らかにする。
