Outline of Research at the Start	先天性骨系統疾患とは、骨や軟骨などの骨格を形作る組織の障害により、骨格の異常をきたす疾患の総称であり、450種類以上存在する。骨だけでなく呼吸器系、免疫系などの多くの臓器に合併症を引き起こすことがある。申請者らは、脛骨および腓骨に重度湾曲が見られるラットを発見し、その原因遺伝子を同定した。本研究では、原因遺伝子の機能を解明することで、ヒトの先天性骨系統疾患の診断および治療に役立つ情報を提供する。
