Outline of Research at the Start	円石藻は海洋の主要な第一次生産者の一つで、食物連鎖の底辺を支えると共に、光合成や円石形成を通じて海洋の炭素循環に貢献している。この円石藻の多様性と環境の関係を正しく把握するためには、円石藻が抱える分類学上の問題を解決する必要がある。本研究では、円石藻の難(未)培養種から、分子情報と円石の結晶構造の情報を取得し、分類を再検討した上でその単系統性を検証し、その多様化過程を明らかにする。
