Outline of Research at the Start

鳥とウモウダニは相利共生の関係にあるとされる。この両者の関係は単なる相利共生ではなく、鳥による共生者ウモウダニの排除とそれを回避するウモウダニの生存戦略によって成り立つと考えられる。鳥は自らの羽の上に共生するウモウダニを適度な個体数に調整することで利益を得ていることを生態学的に検証する。ウモウダニは鳥に排除され難い羽で生活することで、鳥による排除を免れていることを示す。このことを示すために、ウモウダニの分類、生活史、繁殖行動、および鳥によるウモウダニの排除行動について解明する。
