Outline of Research at the Start

当研究室保有の特色ある天然資源（キノコ子実体、サボテン科植物、地衣類など）を素材として、海洋由来真菌により発酵、もしくは太陽光を利用した光反応に付すことにより新たな化合物を産生する新たな天然資源の開発を行う。
次に、アルツハイマー病の根本的な治療薬の開発を目指し、アルツハイマー病の原因とされるアミロイドβ（Aβ）の生成に関わるβ-セクレターゼ(BACE1)阻害活性、神経細胞にダメージを与えると考えられているAβ凝集の抑制活性、さらにAβの貪食に関与していると考えられているTREM2の発現促進活性に着目し、既存の天然資源と新たに開発する天然資源からこれらの活性を有する化合物を探索する。
