Outline of Research at the Start

大腸癌におけるエストロゲンの役割については、抑制説・促進説とも存在し十分なコンセンサスが得られていない。コンセンサス不在の背景には、患者・腫瘍背景によるエストロゲン作用パターンの違いがあるとの仮説のもと、大腸癌患者腫瘍組織移植モデル（patient-derived xenografts: PDX）、大腸癌手術病理組織検体、データベースを用いた包括的解析を行うことにより、性・年齢、病変局在部位等によるエストロゲン反応性の違いや、その背景にある分子機構を明らかにすることを目指す。研究成果は、患者・腫瘍背景に応じた予防法や個別化医療の開発への布石となると期待される。
