Outline of Research at the Start

体内の臓器に発生する腫瘍は、癌細胞だけでなく、様々な非癌細胞（間質細胞とよばれる）によって構成されている。その間質細胞の大きな割合を占める線維芽細胞は、しばしば癌悪性化促進に寄与する。ところが、癌の初期段階では、逆に、線維芽細胞が増殖を阻止する方向へ働き得ることが知られており、癌に対する２面的性質がみられる。本研究では、腫瘍抑制性の線維芽細胞の多面的な解析を研究の基軸として、更には、臨床検体も利用しながら研究を進めて線維芽細胞が発揮する癌抑制効果の分子機序を解明し、癌征圧にむけた治療法開発の基盤形成を目指す。
