Outline of Research at the Start

双極症は、躁状態とうつ状態を繰り返し、社会生活の障害に至る疾患である。双極症では、脳画像解析や死後脳を用いた病理学的解析が進められているが、一致した所見は得られておらず、病態の責任部位や神経基盤は未だ不明である。我々は双極症患者死後脳において、モデルマウスと同様にミトコンドリア障害細胞が視床室傍核（Paraventricular nucleus of thalamus：PVT）領域に存在することを見出した。本研究では、ヒトPVTを再解析し、病態の基盤となるPVT内亜核（細胞群）の同定、および特徴付けを行い、感情を制御する神経基盤を精査する。
