Outline of Research at the Start	申請者は、慢性的なストレスによるBBBの透過性の増加が脳バリア機能を低下させ、このバリア機能の低下が抑うつ症状を引き起こす直接的な原因であることを明らかにしてきた。本研究は、うつ病の病因解明に向け、大脳皮質全体の脳領域ごとの脳バリア機能の脆弱性の違いを詳細に調べ、脳バリア機能障害によるマイクログリア活性化脳領域を明らかにする。脳内炎症の局在化が明らかになれば、なぜうつ病患者では、大脳皮質前頭前野といった脳領域特異的に自発脳活動変化が起こるのかといった疑問解明に向けた一つの突破口になると考えられ、BBBの脳バリア機能障害に起因するうつ病の病因解明や治療法の開発に大きく寄与すると期待される。
