Outline of Research at the Start

菲薄基底膜病は、現在、COL4A3/A4/A5遺伝子変異で発症するIV型collagen腎症の一つであることが、腎臓内科学的には固く確立されている。しかしながら、COL4A3/A4/A5以外の遺伝子変異が菲薄基底膜病を引き起こすかどうか、また、COL4A3/A4/A5遺伝子変異がどのようにして基底膜の菲薄化を招くのかは依然として不明な点が多い。本研究では、IV型collagen腎症の一つと分類されている菲薄基底膜病の原因遺伝子として、外来患者の家系から新たにLAMB4 遺伝子を見出し、このLAMB4 遺伝子変異がどのように菲薄基底膜病を発症させるのかを、分子生物学手法を用いて明らかにする。
