Outline of Research at the Start

１型糖尿病は疫学的特徴に人種差があり、日本人１型糖尿病の遺伝素因が欧米と異なる可能性がある。本研究は日本人１型糖尿病の疫学的特徴を最大限に活用したアプローチにより日本人特有の遺伝子変異を見いだし、１型糖尿病の進展予防と根治に資する基盤情報を得ることを目的としている。「我が国では頻度が低く効果量の強いRare variantの関与が、稀で家族内集積しやすい疫学的特徴の要因である」という仮説に基づき、Rare variantとCommon variantの両面から戦略的かつ効率的に遺伝子解析をおこない、その機能を解明することで我が国独自の発症機序解明を目指す。
