Outline of Research at the Start

細胞内コルチゾールの活性調節を担い、加齢より活性化する11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase1 (11β-HSD1)に着目した研究である。
加齢に伴う体組成の変化、すなわち内臓脂肪増加、骨格筋量減少（サルコペニア肥満）、さらに組織へのマクロファージの浸潤による慢性炎症に対する11β-HSD1を介したGC作用の関与を解明する。11β-HSD1の活性を制御し、サルコペニア肥満の発症・進展の抑制法の開発につながる、高齢社会の課題であるフレイルの克服を目指した基盤研究である。
