Outline of Research at the Start	1型糖尿病は、膵臓β細胞が免疫学的に選択的に破壊される難治性糖尿病である。膵島移植は、膵臓移植に比べて圧倒的に低侵襲な糖尿病に対する根治的細胞移植療法である。しかし、膵島移植後の強い炎症反応や、その後の免疫反応による膵島傷害のため、現状の免疫抑制法では、移植膵島の長期生着は得られない。本研究は、膵島移植の長期成績の劇的な向上をもたらす新規治療法として、ドナー抗原特異的な免疫抑制性細胞を用いた免疫寛容誘導治療を膵島移植へ応用し、臨床応用へ繋げる基礎研究である。
