Outline of Research at the Start

敗血症は、重症化すると生命を脅かす多臓器障害を引き起こし、全世界的に死因の1/5を占めるとも言われている。敗血症の救命率は、集中治療の進歩、Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelinesの活動などにより向上してきているが、長期予後は未だ不良であり、敗血症関連脳症の合併による認知機能障害などの後遺症が問題となっている。申請者らは、敗血症関連脳症モデルマウスにおいてClaustrum(前障)に特異的な神経活動を見出した。本研究では、Claustrumにおける特異的な神経活動と、敗血症および敗血症関連脳症との関係性を検証し、臨床応用可能な治療戦略の追及を目指す。
