Outline of Research at the Start

敗血症の状態が長く続いてしまうと，過剰な炎症性サイトカインが臓器障害を起こす一方で，過剰な抗炎症性サイトカインが免疫力の低下を引き起こしてしまう．我々の新しい敗血症モデルラットは，数日間にわたり敗血症の状態が続き，数日間をかけて徐々に臓器障害が進み，また免疫力低下の原因となりうるサイトカインの動きが確認される，というこれまでにない特徴がある．炎症性サイトカインと抗炎症性サイトカインを血液浄化の技術により調節するという方法により，これまで対症療法以外に治療法のなかった、敗血症による臓器障害と免疫力低下に対する直接的な治療法を確立することを目標とする．
