Outline of Research at the Start

希少がんである肉腫は、上皮性悪性腫瘍と腫瘍としての性質が大きく異なっており、有効な化学療法が少ない。予後の改善には新規化学療法の開発が急務となっているが、新規治療法開発が困難な理由として、その希少性と多様性が大きく関係している。近年、鉄依存性細胞死であるferroptosisが、がんの治療ターゲットとして注目されつつあるが、申請者らは過去に滑膜肉腫などの肉腫細胞株でのferroptosis高感受性を明らかにしてきた。本研究ではさらに肉腫でのferroptosis感受性に関するメカニズム解明を進め、肉腫での新規治療開発のきっかけとなるよう尽力したい。
