Outline of Research at the Start	尿路感染症は、最も身近な感染症の１つであり、「尿路病原性大腸菌」が主要な起因菌である。UPECはしばしば反復感染を起こすため、繰り返しの抗菌薬投与を行うことで新たな耐性菌株の出現に繋がることが懸念されている。近年、申請者らの研究グループでは、膣内細菌叢がUPECによる反復性膀胱炎の発症に影響を及ぼすということを明らかにしている。本研究は、UPECによる反復性膀胱炎のメカニズムを細菌側と宿主側両方の観点から明らかにする。さらに、予防戦略や再発のリスク予測が可能となる診断法の開発のための基盤構築や新規モダリティとしてのマイクロバイオーム創薬の開発を目指す。
