Outline of Research at the Start

腎移植は末期腎不全に対する唯一の根治的治療法であるが、慢性的なドナー不足が問題となっている。この問題を打開する方法のひとつとして、遺伝子改変ブタの腎臓を使用した異種移植が挙げられ、海外では多くの研究が行われている。最近ではアメリカでヒトへの異種移植も行われ急性拒絶反応は回避できた一方で、長期生着に関して多くの課題が残されている。課題のひとつが自然免疫の制御である。自然免疫は異種移植と同種移植の違いの本質であるにも関わらず、その中心となる好中球に関する研究はほとんどされていない。
本研究ではin vitroおよびin vivo異種移植モデルを用いて異種移植における好中球制御の可能性を検討する。
