Outline of Research at the Start

子宮筋腫は生殖可能年齢の女性の子宮に発症する良性腫瘍であり日常生活に影響する深刻な症状をもたらす。子宮筋腫の発症や増大への免疫系の関わりはほとんど分かっていない。近年、子宮筋腫では免疫系の機能が抑制されうることが示唆された。本件研究では「子宮筋腫の発生や増大における免疫寛容の役割を明らかにすること」であり、本研究の成果は、将来的に免疫機構からアプローチした子宮筋腫の新規治療法開発などにつながる可能性があり、妊娠を試みている女性に対する継続的な薬物治療となることが期待される。
