Outline of Research at the Start

メニエール病は繰り返すめまい発作と感音難聴の進行により生活の質を著しく損なう発作性めまいの主要疾患であるが、未だ根治療法はない。申請者は内リンパ水腫生体画像の経時評価により、めまい発作時に内リンパ水腫の破裂が生じないことを初めて明らかにした。メニエール病はめまい発作時に眼球の不随意運動である眼振を伴うが、申請者は眼振経過に複数の変化パターンがあり、その変化を規定しうる内リンパ水腫体積等の因子があることも初めて見出した。即ちめまい発作時の眼振パターンは予測可能と考えられ、メニエール病めまい発作の病態解明に繋がりうる。本研究の成果はメニエール病に限らず、発作性めまい疾患の病態解明に資する。
