Outline of Research at the Start

申請者は、網膜疾患の新たな治療標的として、細胞および臓器保護作用を有する生理活性ペプチド、アドレノメデュリン２(AM2)と、AM2の受容体の活性調節タンパクであるRAMP1, 2, 3に着目した。
多くの網膜疾患では、網膜浮腫による視力低下とその後の線維化による不可逆的な網膜変性が視力低下の主因である。本研究で申請者は、AM2およびRAMP1,2,3ノックアウトマウスなど用いて、網膜浮腫および線維化のモデルを作成・解析し、網膜疾患の新たな治療標的としての、AM2-RAMP系のProof of Conceptを確立する。本研究の成果を、様々な網膜疾患に対する新たな治療法開発の基盤とする。
