Outline of Research at the Start

細胞老化は、様々なストレスへの慢性的な暴露により生じ、慢性炎症の増強や組織再生の阻害などを起こす。その結果として関節リウマチ、動脈硬化、骨粗鬆症などの様々な慢性疾患に関与することが示されてきた。プラーク中の細菌や慢性炎症による持続的なストレスに長期間さらされている歯周組織において、歯肉炎から歯周炎への移行に細胞老化が関与することが考えられる。そこで本研究では、歯周組織の老化細胞の蓄積および老化による免疫系の不全による歯周炎発症メカニズムの解明を目指し、老化細胞除去剤を用いた新規の画期的な歯周治療法の開発に繋げる。
