Outline of Research at the Start

歯の喪失が全身，特に認知機能低下に影響を与えることが疫学的に示されているものの，そのメカニズムは不明な点が多く，これまでにもさまざま検討が行われている．我々の研究グループは実験的に歯の喪失が及ぼす影響を，主にマウスを用いた動物実験で明らかにしてきた．本研究は，歯の喪失が認知機能に与える影響を代謝物質に注目して解析することで明らかにするという全く新しいアプローチである．本研究では，in vitroとin vivoによる研究を実施し，歯の喪失が認知機能低下を引き起こすメカニズムの一端に，代謝物質の変化が関与していることを明らかにする。
