Outline of Research at the Start

BMP-3は骨代謝を負に制御するサイトカインである．BMP-3の機能消失により，4q21症候群と呼ばれる顎顔面の形態異常を伴う疾患が生じると考えられている．予備的実験からGDF-10はBMP-3と同様に骨代謝を負制御する可能性を示すデータが得られた．しかし，BMP-3およびGDF-10それぞれのノックアウトマウスの骨のフェノタイプはマイルドであり，さらにGDF-10とBMP-3は発現部位が一致し，高い相同性をもつことから，BMP-3とGDF-10は生理的に代償しているのではないかと仮説を立てた．そこで本研究ではBMP-3とGDF-10の機能を同時に解析する．
