Outline of Research at the Start	世界的に増加傾向にある心不全患者の数は、高齢化が進む本邦では近い将来の爆発的増加が見込まれており、医療資源と医療経済の逼迫が危ぶまれている。この潮流は既存療法では食い止め難く、新たな治療・予防戦略の開発が求められている。近年、国民病たる歯周病が心不全発症の新たな危険因子の一つであることが疫学的に明らかになってきたが、心臓と口腔、2つの遠隔臓器の疾患がなぜ関連するのか、詳細な機序は明らかではない。本研究では、歯周病原細菌由来のエクソソーム様の細胞外膜小胞に着目し、歯周病起因性の心不全の発症機序の解明を目指す。
