Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、これまでに申請者が脳卒中患者の予後と強い関連性があることを示した歯周病菌の一つであるFusobacterium nucleatum (F.nuleatum)に着目し、臨床研究および動物実験にてF.nucleatum感染が脳実質や小血管に及ぼす経時的な影響について血清学的検討、画像的検討および免疫組織学的検討を行い、歯周病菌感染が脳内に及ぼす病態メカニズムを解明することを目的とする。本研究により、特異的細菌や口腔環境を標的とした脳卒中発症予防の発展および予後改善に向けた取り組みへの応用が期待できる。
