Outline of Research at the Start

口腔機能低下は、認知症、全身のフレイル、うつ症状等、より重篤な全身疾患のリスク要因である可能性が高い。しかしながら、口腔機能低下に関わるリスク要因は、ほとんど明らかになっていない。今回、1万人規模の中高年者の前向きコーホート研究のベースラインデータを活用して、中年期、高年期のそれぞれのライフステージにおける口腔機能低下と関連するリスク要因や予防要因を評価する。さらに、遺伝要因との関連も評価する。修正可能な生活習慣や環境が明らかになれば、これらの変容や改善によって、口腔機能低下を予防できる可能性が高まる。体質も考慮した個々人に最適な予防方法の確立と全身疾患の発症抑制に寄与する。
