医療費が増大する中で、医療費増大に加担する原因の1つとして薬剤耐性及び不適切な抗菌薬の使用が存在する。それを低減するために行われているのが、抗菌薬適正使用プログラムである。2016-2020年の薬剤耐性アクションプランでは、病院で使用される静 注抗菌薬の使用は微減にとどまっている。具体的な手法等は、病院に委ねられている実情がある。2023-2027年の薬剤耐性アクションプランでは、 静注広域抗菌薬の使用量低減を目標に掲げているが、病院における静注抗菌薬に対する効果的かつ持続的な抗菌薬適正使用プログラムの手法とはどのようなプログラムかを具体的に明らかにすることが必要である。
