Outline of Research at the Start	米国では診断エラーによる死亡は年間4-8万人に達し、総医療費の約20％の損失が試算され、公衆衛生上の最重要課題と設定された。これまで申請者は医師の診断エラー省察研究や医療訴訟研究を実施し、我が国の診断エラーの実態や関連要因等を明らかにしてきた。しかし医療者側の視点を用いた診断エラー研究のみでは医療サービスの受け手である患者の経験や視点が不在であり、患者が遭遇する診断エラーの真の実態や関連要因、医学的・経済的損失と対策を明らかにする事が出来ない。そこでハーバード大学とミシガン大学と共同で患者視点からの診断エラー全国患者調査を実施し、診断エラーの実態・関連要因・損失及び対策を明らかにする。
